BETHESDA, Md. (April 5, 2016) — The Auto Care Association (ACA) is contracting with Pricedex Software Inc. to conduct a comprehensive research project to define the heavy duty parts data process.
According to the Bethesda-based trade association, it will work with its Heavy Duty Distribution Association segment, leveraging its expertise in product data management and cataloging to develop a best practice for the identification and dissemination of product information relevant to the heavy duty aftermarket.
The first phase of the research study will delve into the way heavy duty parts are cataloged and provide the framework for a unique product data set, the ACA said.
This phase will leverage portions of the ACA's Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES) that can also be applied to the commercial and off-highway segments, the association said.
When the project is completed, the ACA said it expects it will provide the tools and resources to facilitate heavy duty parts manufacturers' coding efforts for product information and product hierarchy, which could be incorporated into an electronic catalog lookup to meet the needs of the heavy duty industry.
