    BETHESDA, Md. (March 30, 2016) — The Auto Care Association (ACA) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) have honored 12 outstanding auto technicians with the 2016 World Class Technician Award.

    The winning techs were tested by ASE and won certification in 22 specialty areas, according to the ACA.

    The 2016 World Class Technicians are:

    • Chris Alexander, Tunnel Hill, Ga.;
    • John Bridgwater, Castro Valley, Calif.;
    • Michael Corbett, West Jordan, Utah;
    • Daniel Doherty, Springfield, Pa.;
    • Byron Enders, Crestview, Fla.;
    • Andrew Harrison, Mechanicsville, Md.;
    • Brian Hutson, Fort Smith, Ariz.;
    • David Jones, Danville, Va.;
    • Kevin Lang, Manchester, Md.;

    • Jesse McCurdy, North Las Vegas, Nev.;
    • Susan Schalk, San Diego, Calif.; and
    • Daniel Wolak, Elk Grove Village, Ill.

    All 12 World Class Technicians will receive a special certificate signed by the presidents of ASE and the ACA and embroidered shoulder insignia, the ACA said. Also, their names will be perpetually inscribed in an honor book located in the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Mich., it said.

    The World Class Technician designation is a significant honor in the auto care industry, according to the ACA. Only 1,914 technicians have won the award since its inception 30 years ago, compared with the more than 840,000 auto technicians working in the U.S. today.
