LEVITTOWN, Pa. (March 22, 2016) — Gallagher Tire Inc., a family-owned and -operated specialty tire wholesaler in Leavittown, will sponsor four scholarships for the 2016 Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) program this summer.
Being held from July 3 through Aug. 6 on the campuses of Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology, the program brings motivated high school students together with business people throughout the state to learn about the American free enterprise system, Gallagher Tire said.
During the seven-day program, students team up to simulate companies and the actual operation of their own business for the equivalent of three years. Facing all of the decisions that real executives are confronted by, the student companies are mentored by dedicated business volunteers who serve as company advisers.
Scholarships are valued at $575 each, according to the PFEW site.
Sharing their knowledge and expertise, company advisers address the most significant issues facing business today in straightforward, informal discussion with students. Since its inception 38 years ago, the program has graduated nearly 40,000 students, including President John “JP” Gallagher III, who participated in 1998.
