LEESBURG, Va. (March 21, 2016) — Subaru of America Inc. and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) are partners in a program to deliver specially developed tests.
If passed, they will allow technicians at Subaru dealerships to opt out of specific Subaru training courses, according to the auto maker and ASE.
At the request of the Subaru Retailer Council, the Subaru Technical Training Department developed special tests designed to measure the same technical competencies associated with several Subaru Level 2 instructor-led training programs, the ASE said in a press release.
The tests cover knowledge of fundamentals in diagnosis and repair of engines, transmissions, fuel systems, electrical systems and brake systems, according to the institute.
Technicians who have not completed Subaru Level 2 courses can take one or all of the tests and be credited with Level 2 competency if they pass, the ASE said.
Techs who want to take the ASE tests can register for them by logging into the Subaru SKILS system, according to ASE. Within 10 business days, ASE will send confirmation emails informing technicians how to schedule testing sessions within the next 90 days at any of ASE's nearly 500 test centers nationwide.
