Mickey Thompson renews LOORRS regional sponsorship

STOW, Ohio (March 3, 2016) — Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has renewed its sponsorship of the Mini Stock class of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Racing Series this year, saying it wants to support “up-and-coming” young racers in the sport.

Mini Stock Class racers rely primarily on stock components and minor modifications to convert production trucks to competition vehicles, Mickey Thompson said, and therefore tend to be racers on tight budgets.

The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series takes place at two tracks in southern California — Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore and Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernadino.

“The Mini Stock class continues to be one of the fastest growing racing classes in the sport,” said Lee Perfect, LOORRS Regional Series director. “These teams are always in need of support, and Mickey Thompson's involvement makes a big difference.”

Competitors typically run Ford Rangers, Chevy Colorados, Toyota Tacomas, etc. in this class, which is considered a “feeder series” for the LOORRS ProLite class.

Mickey Thompson, a subsidiary of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., offers contingencies — a free set of tires for a victory — and a season-end bonus of $1,000 to the leading driver using Mickey Thompson tires.

The Lucas Oil regional series began Feb.27 at Glen Helen Raceway and will conclude Oct. 8 at Lake Elsinore. There are eight rounds scheduled this season.
