Valvoline launches injection system treatment

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 2, 2016) — Ashland Inc.'s Valvoline brand has launched a service for treating and restoring gasoline direct-injection fuel systems.

Called EasyGDI Fuel System Service featuring Power Dispersal Technology, the treatment is designed to remove carbon deposits from hard-to-reach intake valves, piston tops, cylinder heads and fuel injectors in gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines in just over an hour, using basic tools, a canister apparatus and shop air.

“This marks a major breakthrough in how GDI fuel systems can be treated and restored by technicians of varied skill and experience levels,” said Laura Carpenter, vice president of marketing, installer channels.

“It is a sensible investment for both installers and consumers, providing a win-win situation in vehicle service.”

Features of the service include an intake cleaner, fuel rail cleaner and a complete fuel system treatment, Valvoline said.

EasyGDI features 10 detergents that work together to melt away carbon deposits and circulate to the most difficult places to clean in a GDI fuel system, the Ashland unit said, allowing users to avoid dismantling the engine and fuel system. Valvoline said results of the service include improved injector flow, fuel economy and power and the elimination of rough idle, hesitation and knocking.

“The new fuel system service has been extensively tested and validated by third parties and proven on a wide variety of current market vehicles,” said David Turcotte, technical director for Valvoline. “Tests have shown a consistent removal of 30 to 50 percent of deposits, and in many cases engine components are restored back to bare metal,”
