ROCKVILLE, Md. (Feb. 29, 2016) — MarketResearch.com Inc. has acquired Freedonia Group Inc., a Cleveland-based industry research firm in business for more than 30 years.

The businesses' complementary assets are being integrated, enabling existing services to be enhanced, MarketResearch.com said, adding that the acquisition provides businesses, nonprofit organizations and academia a single source of market research for multiple industries, from consumer goods and services to life sciences, construction and materials to chemicals and packaging.

Among the industries Freedonia has covered over the years are: automotive and transport (including tires); chemicals, plastics and other polymers; energy and petroleum; consumer goods; etc.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The Freedonia business unit will be led by Jeff Weiss, CEO of Freedonia since 1997, who will report to Rob Granader, CEO and founder of MarketResearch.com.

MarketResearch.com describes itself as a research aggregation business. Its roots start in 1998, when Mr. Granader combined the Published Products division of FIND/SVP, part of the worldwide SVP network, and FINDEX, the worldwide directory of market research reports, to create Kalorama Information, a future leader in the market research publishing world, according to the firm's online history.

The Published Products division included the Packaged Facts, FIND/SVP (now KIMR) and SBI brand lines, as well as The Information Catalog, which was the print predecessor to Marketresearch.com, the current open Web service. In June 2000 the company acquired Newsletters.com of Rockville, an aggregator of business information that served as the backbone of the Marketresearch.com website that launched in January 2001.
