INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 29, 2016) — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has named Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. its Automotive Supplier of the Year and Hardline Supplier of the Year.
Giti Tire supplies Wal-Mart with the Dextero DHT2, a light truck tire designed for highway use. Wal-Mart has an exclusive on this tire in the U.S.
The retailer does not carry any other Giti-branded tires; other Dextero tire lines are available to the independent sales channel.
Lou Monico, Wal-Mart account manager for Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Giti Tire (USA), called the awards “a testament to the commitment, dedication, innovation and hard work of all our team members at Giti Tire USA. This recognition also speaks to Giti Tire's commitment to American consumers and companies.”
The Dextero DHT2 is backed by a 50,000-mile limited tread wear warranty. Giti did not say whether it sources the DHT2 from plants in China or Indonesia.
Wal-Mart presented Giti Tire with its awards at the Walmart USA 2016 kickoff meeting in Indianapolis on Feb. 11-12.
Giti Tire said it was among more than 1,000 companies considered for the Hardline Supplier of the Year and that it was one of four finalists in the general merchandise category.
