WASHINGTON (Feb. 10, 2016) — The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) is accepting applications for its 2016 Circle of Safety Excellence until March 1.
ISRI describes the Circle of Safety Excellence as a member-driven effort to promote and encourage safety in the workplace. It brings like-minded companies together to share safety data and best practices to improve workplace safety in their own businesses and in the industry as a whole, the Washington-based institute said.
Companies interested in first-time membership may complete the application and submit company safety data online, ISRI said. Returning members will need to reapply, using injury frequency data from 2015.
To be accepted for the Circle of Safety Excellence, companies must:
- Have a safety management program present in all facilities, with certain key standards as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration;
- Be willing to share injury data annually and participate in a group benchmarking program; and
- Join ISRI to outreach to others in the industry to promote safe workplace practices.
There were 97 members of the Circle of Safety Excellence in 2015, according to ISRI. For more information on the circle, go to the institute's website.
