Mopar winter tire program launched

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Feb. 3, 2016) — Chrysler and Jeep dealers are offering mounted winter tire-wheel packages this year through a new Mopar program.

Assemblies include a winter tire, steel rim and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), delivered to the dealership mounted and balanced, according to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) US L.L.C.

“Mopar is rolling out our first-ever offering of winter wheel assemblies for those customers who desire a little extra control during the cold weather seasons,” said Pietro Gorlier, head of parts and service (Mopar), FCA – Global.

The program is also available in Canada through FCA Canada Inc.

Winter wheel assemblies are available for FCA US vehicles — including the Dodge Caravan, Dodge Charger (AWD and RWD), Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler 300 (AWD and RWD), Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee, with the program scheduled to expand to encompass even more vehicle models next year.

The winter tire-wheel assemblies are priced at $242 to $292 per wheel, depending on the vehicle, Mopar said. Dealer installation charges are not included.

Mopar said it is pitching the winter tire program at dealers in regions spared the most extreme winter weather, noting that winter tires don't require ice and snow to go to work — they remain flexible and allow for enhanced handling and stopping even when weather conditions fall under 45 F.

The FCA unit also recommends winter tires for four-wheel-drive vehicles, with aggressive tread patterns that augment the additional control provided via four-wheel drive.

Among the brands Mopar offers are: BF Goodrich, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli and Yokohama, with more than 1,100 winter tire fitments offered.

Mopar is FCA's service, parts and customer-care brand, distributing more than 500,000 parts and accessories in over 150 markets around the world.
