WASHINGTON (Jan. 28, 2016) — MyCarDoesWhat.org, a new educational site about advanced vehicle safety features, has gone online as a collaboration between the University of Iowa and the National Safety Council (NSC).

“Our cars are smarter every day, and we need to get smarter, too,” said Kelly Nantel, NSC vice president of communications and advocacy. Ms. Nantel made a presentation about MyCarDoesWhat.org at the Washington Auto Show Jan. 21.

The website features information on tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), anti-lock braking systems, back-up cameras, blind spot monitors, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning systems.

Videos, graphics, games and a “Deeper Learning” section give drivers the information they need to understand and best utilize these technologies, according to Ms. Nantel.

She described “Dashboard Blitz,” the game on MyCarDoesWhat.org, as “The ‘Candy Crush' of auto safety.”

Available on both Android and iOS App, “Dashboard Blitz” allows visitors to the MyCarDoesWhat site to try out simulators with the latest in car safety technology, according to the website.

“There has never been a more exciting time to drive,” Ms. Nantel said regarding the need for MyCarDoesWhat.org. “Our cars are more tricked out than ever before.

“As our cars look more and more like the Jetsons', it entails more and more updates,” she said.
