LEWISTON, Maine (Jan. 28, 2016) — VIP Tires & Service raised $45,216 for Make-A-Wish Foundation during its eighth annual “Season of Wishes” initiative, doubling its donation from 2015.
Every VIP Tires store in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts participated in the 2015 initiative, which encourages customer and employee donations to Make-A-Wish during the months of November and December.
For the third year in a row, VIP President and CEO John Quirk personally matched the total raised by the company's 56 stores. He presented Make-A-Wish Maine President Nancy Koglmeier with the donation check on Jan. 26.
Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions all across the U.S. In Maine and New Hampshire, Make-A-Wish fulfills an average of one gift to a seriously ill child every five days, and each wish costs an average of more than $7,000.
To date, Lewiston-based VIP Tires said it has raised nearly $300,000 for Make-A-Wish.
“We are so grateful to everyone at VIP Tires & Service who contributed to this annual campaign that makes such a big difference in the lives of local wish kids,” Ms. Koglmeier said. “The long-term commitment of their customers, staff and leadership is inspiring.”
VIP Tires' top fundraising stores in each state included its outlets in Old Town, Maine ($1,888); Littleton, N.H. ($1,214); and Watertown, Mass. ($556).
