GREENVILLE, S.C.The organizers of the annual Mint 400 off-road race have named Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich brand the presenting sponsor of the event in a multi-year contract, starting with the 2016 event, the Polaris RZR Mint 400, March 9-12, near Las Vegas.
The sponsorship allows BFG to engage with the off-road community throughout the full schedule of events, Michelin said, including the pre-race contingency festivities on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, the annual Pit Crew Challenge, on site at the race itself and through broadcast on NBC Sports and advertising platforms.
Desert racing is where BFGoodrich Tires has written much of its off-road history, said Jaye Young, business segment manager for BFGoodrich Tires. Sponsoring the Mint 400 provides a signature event in the United States for us to demonstrate product performance and develop activities around the race that continue to prove our leadership with the off-road enthusiast community.
BFG's off-road racing participation includes short course championships and, Michelin claims, more desert race wins than any other tire manufacturer. The BFG brand has won 20 of the last 22 overall major North American desert races, it added.
We are excited to have BFGoodrich involved with The Mint 400 as presenting sponsor and a media partner, said Mint 400 CEO Matt Martelli. They have been a pillar of off-road racing and a huge advocate of off-road culture. We look forward to showing the world how exciting off-road racing is together.
