STOW, OhioMickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has renewed its sponsorship of the Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha motocross team, which competes in the American Motorcyclist Association's (AMA) Supercross series.
The Yamalube Star Racing team includes two 2015 season champions21-year old Jeremy Martin recently won the 250 class Pro Motocross Championship title, alongside his teammate, 18-year old Cooper Webb who won the West Coast Supercross Championship titleand the 250 class Rookie of the Year title in both Supercross and Motocross, 18-year old Aar-on Plessinger.
These athletes are considered to be some of the best in the sport, said Ken Warner, vice president of marketing for Mickey Thompson, a division of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.. This sponsorship gives us the opportunity to support the continued success of the team while connecting with truck and 4x4 owners. This sport boasts 60,000 fans, and most own a truck.
Mr. Warner noted that company's relationship with former freestyle motocross champion Brian Deegan plays dividends, as the co-branded Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 tire and wheel products are showcased at every event.
According to the AMA, its average member is 48 years old, boasts an annual household income of $85,300 and claims to have ridden a motorcycle for 26 years, both on- and off-road.
The team this year includes newcomers Alex Martin and Mitchell Harrison.
The 2016 AMA Supercross season features 17 race weekends, which started Jan. 9 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., and will wrap up May 7 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
