WASHINGTON (Jan. 8, 2016) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) has designated May 29-June 4 as National Tire Safety Week 2016 in the U.S.
This is the 15th straight year the association has sponsored National Tire Safety Week, an initiative of its ongoing “Be Tire Smart—Play Your P.A.R.T.” program.
Every year, tire manufacturers, tire dealers, auto repairers and related organizations take part in National Tire Safety Week, sponsoring activities and disseminating information to remind motorists of the safety and financial benefits of proper tire inflation and maintenance.
“National Tire Safety Week is all about reminding busy consumers of the importance of taking good care of their tires,” said newly appointed RMA President Anne Forristall Luke. “Properly maintained tires have a proven, positive impact on safety, save consumers money and benefit the environment through greater fuel economy.”
In preparation for the week-long event, the RMA provides tire retailers, auto dealers and auto repair shops with free “Be Tire Smart” brochures and other materials. The RMA said participating retail outlets perform community and media outreach, including advertising promotions and free tire pressure checks.
The Be Tire Smart program is funded by the RMA's tire manufacturer members: Bridgestone Americas; Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.; Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.; Goodyear; Michelin North America Inc.; Pirelli Tire North America Inc.; Toyo Tire Holdings of America Inc.; and Yokohama Tire Corp.
