AKRON (Dec. 7, 2015) — It's that time of year again. As we travel through the holiday season and look toward the New Year, I wanted to take a look back at some of the ways tire dealers have been using social media this year.

While there are many different types of social media posts, through different social media sites, here are some of my favorites that were posted on Facebook and Twitter this year. These are listed in no particular order.

What was your favorite campaign this year? Tweet to me at @jenniferkarpus or send an email to [email protected].

    Zolman Tire

Back in October, Zolman Tire posted one of the most touching posts I saw all year. While most people may not view the tire industry as a place to find true love, two customers of Zolman Tire had a different story. Katie and Brian met in the showroom at the dealership's East McKinley Avenue location in Mishawaka, Ind., and when it came to proposal time, Brian thought there would be no better place than where he first met his bride-to-be.

Sharing this engagement story helped the company's engagement online. Building relationships with your customers and your followers is important. This was such a great way to share in Zolman Tire's customers' lives and a great way to showcase those connections into the social media world.

Best-One Tire & Service Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois & Missouri

In April, Best-One Tire & Service Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois & Missouri held a social media contest for its customers. I thought this was such a great way to engage an audience, while still remaining industry-specific.

    NAPA Auto Care

The highlighted NAPA Auto Care's post is about how up to 80 percent of the average car is recyclable.

Many consumers care about green initiatives — and creating a post like this makes a brand relatable.

    Flynn's Tire & Auto

There are a lot of elements to social media that can be fun, good for a laugh or for a source of entertainment. However, there is also a great avenue for bits of information to be passed along as well.

This Flynn's Tire & Auto post from February explained tire information in the quick 140-character limit format of Twitter, while also promoting a service the company provides.

Neighborhood Tire Pros & Auto Service

Neighborhood Tire Pros & Auto Service posted about DIY car cleaning tips back in September. I liked this post because many people have a commute to get to work.

I spend at least 10 hours in my car in a week and these are definitely tips that I can use. Not all social media posts need to be elaborate, thought-out campaigns. Sometimes, it can just be something simple but relatable.

These are just some of the great social media posts I remember from this past year. I look forward to seeing so many more through this holiday season and next year.

I will be taking a look at social media trends coming in 2016, so stay tuned!
