    LONDON (Nov. 30, 2015) — Francesco Gori, Apollo Tyres Ltd.'s newly appointed strategy adviser, has agreed to be a speaker at the Future Tire Conference.

    The industry conference being organized by European Rubber Journal — a United Kingdom-based sister publication of Tire Business — is scheduled to be held May 24-25 in Essen, Germany, alongside the Reifen trade show.

    Mr. Gori, who was CEO of Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. from 2006 to 2012, will discuss Apollo Tyre's investment strategy and the expansion of Asian tire manufacturers in Europe.

    He joins a panel of top-level presenters who have committed to speak at the two-day conference, which will be held at Messe Essen, which also is the site for Reifen 2016. Mr. Gori spent 33 years at Pirelli, starting in firm's motorcycle tires business and moving steadily up through the company's sales and marketing ranks, becoming general manager of the firm's car tire sector in 2001 and CEO of Pirelli Tyre in 2006.

    Mr. Gori joined Apollo in October following the expiration of a three-year non-compete agreement with Pirelli.

    The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers' Association (ETRMA) and the Imported Tyre Manufacturers Association (ITMA) are among the industry associations supporting the two-day conference, according to Crain Communications Inc., publisher of European Rubber Journal and Tire Business.

    The conference is divided into four sessions: European tire industry; tire recycling; future factories and supply chain; and technology — future tires and materials.

    Other speakers include:

    • Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general, ETRMA;
    • Valerie Shulman, secretary general, European Tyre Recycling Association;
    • Xu Wenying, vice-chairman and secretary general of the China Rubber Industry Association;
    • Philippe Giraudin, supply chain director, Group Michelin;
    • Kozaburo Nakaseko, senior executive officer, Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd.
    • Hans Dorfi, advance tire technology manager, Bridgestone Corp.;
    • Jacob Peled , chairman, Pelmar Engineering Ltd.; and
    • Ruud Burlet, chairman of Bureau of International Recycling / Tire & Rubber Committee.

    Further high-profile speakers will be announced in the coming weeks, according to conference promoters.
