NORWICH, Conn. (Nov. 10, 2015) — Pete's Tire Barns Inc. has purchased the assets of Norwich Tire in Norwich and plans to relocate the business in early 2016 to a facility being built in nearby North Franklin, Conn.
Pete's Tire Barns purchased the business from Norwich Tire owner Jerry Chmielecki, nephew of company owner Stanley Chmielecki, who is joining Pete's Tire as general manager of service for the North Franklin/Norwich region.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“One of the things that attracted us to Norwich Tire was their excellent reputation and commitment to high-quality service,” said Peter Gerry, president of Pete's Tire Barns.
“This acquisition improves our ability to provide a complete range of commercial, retail, agricultural and industrial tires and service that Norwich Tire has been providing their customers since 1955.”
Adding the Norwich/North Franklin location expands Pete's network to 19 full-service locations — including four in Connecticut — an online store, a wholesale distribution center and two Bridgestone-Bandag retread plants. The dealership has roughly 250 employees and a fleet of more than 135 service and delivery vehicles.
