BETHESDA, Md. (Oct. 29, 2015) — The Auto Care Association has appointed Bill Hanvey as president and CEO, succeeding Kathleen Schmatz, who is retiring at year-end after leading the association for 14 years.
Mr. Hanvey, who will assume responsibilities Dec. 1, is senior vice president of programs and member services at the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA).
“In his new role as chief executive, Bill will be responsible for leading the association at this critical time, as the industry evolves and is witnessing rapid advances in technology, globalization and the reshaping of many traditional industry business models,” said ACA Chairman Rick Jago.
Prior to joining the AASA in 2012, Mr. Hanvey was vice president of sales and marketing for auto parts manufacturer Schaeffler Group. His also was vice president of marketing for Dorman Products and sales and marketing positions with FleetPride and Tenneco Automotive.
