NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 28, 2015) — Bridgestone Americas has hired James DeMouy to be its vice president of environmental, health, safety and sustainability (EHSS).
Mr. DeMouy, most recently vice president, environmental health safety and corporate social responsibility for Alstom Thermal Power, will provide environmental, health and safety strategic and operational leadership for the global enterprise, including stewardship of sustainability initiatives, the Nashville-based tire maker said. He will lead and direct all environmental, sustainability, health and safety-related activities for the entire Americas region, including overseas locations — both in manufacturing and retail — and will assume accountability for continued development and management of Bridgestone's regulatory compliance programs.
“Jim brings a proven track record of leadership in environmental, health, safety and sustainability to Bridgestone,” said Christine Karbowiak, executive vice president, chief administrative officer, chief risk officer and acting chief human resources officer. She noted that Mr. DeMouy “has excelled in management at the manufacturing level and large-scale EHSS operations globally.
“We look forward to seeing Jim utilize his communication and problem-solving skills to work collaboratively across regions and business units to lead Bridgestone Americas' strategy and plans to maintain and enhance our world-class EHS performance.”
Bridgestone described Mr. DeMouy as an accomplished leader “with a strong drive for regulatory compliance, injury prevention, health initiatives, environmental protection and sustainability and social responsibility. He has excelled in division management at the manufacturing level and large scale EHS operations globally.”
At Alstom Thermal Power, he led a global team and oversaw all environmental, health, safety, crisis management and sustainability programs for the Baden, Switzerland-based business, which has 35,000 employees. Prior to that, he worked at General Electric as general manager of environmental health and safety for Power Generation Services, a business unit of nearly 8,000 employees worldwide.
Mr. DeMouy earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., and Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Business Administration in International Business degrees from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
