SANTA ANA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2015) — Yokohama Tire Corp. has extended its TY527 line of premium drive tires with three 16-ply size offerings: 295/75R22.5, 11R22.5 and 11R24.5
The tire, which the company said is ideal for regional, high-scrub and long-haul applications, also remains available in its original 14-ply 285/75R24.5 size.
Featuring a 32/32nd-inch tread depth, the tire is designed for long mileage and even wear, Yokohama said, and has a directional tread pattern designed to reduce block movement and resist heel and toe wear under high-torque conditions.
Stress wear control grooves were incorporated into the design to alleviate contact pressure on the edge of the outside tread blocks, allowing the shoulder edge to flex easier to prevent irregular wear, according to the company.
Other features include an enhanced temperature-controlling cap compound, which the firm said produces stronger, more pliable rubber that minimizes heat generation; Yokohama's special STEM-2 (StrainEnergy Minimization) technology, designed to extend the life of the tire casing by directing destructive stress forces away from critical bead and shoulder areas; and stone damage prevention grooves.
