CLEVELANDSeeking an answer to that age-old question, Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich brand brought its 2015 Are You Driver Enough? dealer tour on July 29 to Clevelandthe 17th stopoffering a challenge to its dealer-customers.
Cleveland-area BFG dealers attended the event, held at the mammoth I-X Center near the city's airport, to experience wet and dry autocross sessions designed for them to get some seat time testing the BFGood-rich g-Force COMP-2 A/S tires.
Prior to the event Michelin asked the dealers which leading competing tire they would like to test against, and according to the Green-ville, S.C.-based tire maker, they selected Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.'s ExtremeContact DWS 06. Attendees also participated in an informational session about BFGoodrich's All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, successor to the KO.
The company recently reported it had sold more than 1 million All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires in North America in less than eight months since launching the light truck tire.
Tom Sullivan, manager of public relations for the BFGoodrich Tire unit, said each stop on the tour hit at least 75-percent capacity. Each session had about 30 spots open, with some locations holding multiple sessions.
In Cleveland, about 60 dealers participated. In total the company said it hoped to engage more than 2,000 dealers during the tour, which was scheduled to stop in 21 cities.
