RICHBURG, S.C. (Sept. 30, 2015) — The South Carolina Department of Commerce will host a supplier outreach event Sept. 30 for parties interested in bidding for business with Giti Tire Group once the company's $560 million plant is ready for production.
The department is teaming with Chester County Economic Development to hold the event, scheduled to run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Gateway Conference Center in Richburg.
The event, targeting non-construction suppliers, will provide attendees with information regarding typical sourcing areas for a tire plant, as well as an overview of the company's vendor registration process and its continued commitment to diversity, the sponsors said.
“When a company decides to do business in the Palmetto State, we make a commitment to support them and encourage their success,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “Events like this supplier outreach event are a terrific example of that and a testament to the dedication of Team South Carolina.”
Giti's plant in Chester County is expected to create approximately 1,700 jobs, the Department of Commerce said.
Brian Singleton, chairman of the Chester County Development Association, added: “As the private partner in the ongoing business of economic development in Chester County, the Chester Development Association supports the upcoming Giti Tire Vendor Outreach Event. We want our local professionals to have every opportunity to present their skills to Giti Tire.”
