AKRON — The organizers of the International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC) for Tire Manufacturing have expanded the conference technical staff to three, bringing on industry veterans Larry Evans and Walter Waddell to work with longtime conference chair Harold Herzlich.
The next ITEC for Tire Manufacturing will take place Sept. 13-15, 2016, at the John S. Knight Center in Akron.
Organized by Rubber & Plastics News — a sister publication of Tire Business — ITEC is a biennial conference and exhibition providing the most comprehensive tire technology, business and manufacturing presentations available in the tire industry, along with an extensive tradeshow, according to RPN Publisher Dave Zielasko
ITEC was first held in 1994.
“We are pleased Walter Waddell and Larry Evans have agreed to join the ITEC team as co-chairmen,” Mr. Zielasko said.
“They are well respected in the tire, rubber and chemical industries and bring extensive technical experience to the ITEC chairmanship. Working together with Harold Herzlich we look for them to make the tire industry's premier technical conference and trade show even more valuable for attendees.”
Mr. Evans, head of Larry Evans Consulting, retired recently from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Prior to that he was with J.M. Huber Inc. and PPG Industries after starting his career with Goodyear Tire.
Mr. Waddell recently retired from ExxonMobil Chemical Co., where he was a research associate. He also worked for PPG Industries and Goodyear and was an associate professor of chemistry at Carnegie-Mellon University.
Mr. Herzlich, an independent consultant and RPN's technical editor for the past 25-plus years, has been involved in helping organize ITEC since 1994. Prior to that he worked for Armstrong Rubber Co.
