It seems hard to make it through the day without reading a headline or hearing a conversation mentioning the millennial generation. And after receiving nominations for Tire Business' 2015 Up & Comers, we can understand why.
We received nominations from co-workers for motivated, assertive, business-minded employees worthy of recognition. That said, we'd like to offer congrats to those we're featuring in this year's “Up & Comers” in the tire and automotive service industries.
There are so many ways to describe these workers often dubbed “millennials”—knowledgeable, assertive, bold. They're younger and working hard to prove themselves. And those are the kinds of employees we set out to find and highlight for this new Tire Business recognition program focusing on...we'll call them “rising stars”—young professionals making significant contributions to the industry. They'll likely be the future thought-leaders to watch.
The criteria for these nominees are that they be 40 years of age or younger as of Aug. 14, 2015, and work in various sectors of the tire and auto service business, including independent tire dealerships, wholesalers and retreaders.
