DANVILLE, Va.Officials are investigating an industrial accident that killed Jeanie Strader, a 15-year Goodyear employee, at the tire maker's Danville plant on Aug. 31. She was 56.
Goodyear reported that at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, Ms. Strader sustained a fatal injury in an industrial accident at the plant. Goodyear's on-site emergency response team, as well as local emergency personnel, responded immediately and all parties are cooperating in the investigation into the root cause of the incident, the Akron-based company said.
According to her obituary, Ms. Strader worked as a windup operator and roll changer at the plant.
Additionally, Goodyear said it reported the incidentwhich it did not describeto the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and will fully cooperate with the agency.
Our immediate priority is to provide support and assistance to Jeanie's family as well as the entire team of associates in the Danville plant as we cope with the grief of losing a teammate, said Goodyear-Danville Manufacturing Director John Romero in a statement.
My thoughts and prayers are with Jeanie's family, friends and co-workers.
Ms. Strader is survived by her parents, James and Frances Clark; brother James Clark; sister Melanie (Lewis) Giles; and two nephews.
