LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (Sept. 3, 2015) — Snap-on Diagnostics, a division of Snap-on Inc., has launched the Pass Thru Pro III, an enhanced diagnostics reprogramming tool for independent repair shops.
According to Snap-on, the new tool allows technicians to update software and firmware in a vehicle's electronic control unit with software directly from the OEMs, fixing software-controlled drivability and emission issues. The device also is capable of programming emission-related ECUs on any J2534-compliant vehicle with a model year of 2004 and newer.
The Pass Thru Pro III, which supports Windows 8, includes new protocols for fault tolerant CAN, new CAN lines and access to additional late-model vehicle networks, Snap-on said. In addition, it allows for automatic firmware updates via USB, as a vehicle connection is no longer required.
More information on the Pass Thru Pro III firmware/driver updates, along with links to OEM websites, can be found online on Snap-on's Pass Thru Pro III website.
