NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 31, 2015) — Organizers of the 2016 North American Tire & Retread Expo have added a “Tire Recycling World” section at the event.
Next year's expo is scheduled to be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center April 19-21 in New Orleans. The recycling section will be on a permanent basis, show promoters said.
“Tire recycling or rubber recycling are a challenge to the ecology,” expo organizers said. “It is estimated that more than 300 million tires are discarded annually. More than half of used tires are consumed as secondary fuel in some industries like cement production.
“Reclaimed rubber is also used in various industries including shoe manufacturing, road paving and sports stadium ground fillers.”
Expo promoters said they hoped “that in this new section dedicated to tire recycling…allows companies in this field to present their technology and services to the visiting tire dealers and our tire industry.”
The 2015 expo, also held in New Orleans last April at the Morial center, was presented by the organizers of the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo, which was headed by Gustavo Lima, CEO of Oriente Triangle Latin America Inc. and Latin Expo Group L.L.C.
