OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 25, 2015) — Professional truck drivers across the country now have access to technology that detects potential tire- and wheel- related problems before they occur.
Truck stop chain Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Inc. said it has completed the system-wide rollout nationwide of its TirePass full-service tire inflation system. Installations began earlier this year, and the system is now available at more than 200 locations.
“TirePass is a solution Love's provides to save our customers on their cost per mile,” said Dan Jensen, director of tire sales and service for Oklahoma City-based Love's. “Underinflated tires and uneven tread wear can decrease fuel efficiency and lead to dangerous situations.
“Customers have been pleased with how fast our trained technicians can perform this critical piece of preventative maintenance and we're happy to offer it to more drivers.”
Most of Love's locations that have Truck Tire Care centers are equipped with TirePass, according to the company, and new locations with tire care facilities will begin receiving TirePass.
Love's claims TirePass can extend the life of a tire by automatically inflating tires to the desired pressure. “While a driver fuels, a technician hooks up truck and/or trailer tires to the automatic inflators stationed around the vehicle in the designated TirePass fueling lane,” the firm said. “Tires are inflated to the desired pressure if necessary, and tread depth and pressure are measured and recorded. The use of Flow-Through valve caps maximizes drivers' experience.”
With the system, fleet managers can receive immediate notification if a major problem is detected, giving them real time visibility of their units, Love's said. Reports on all assessments performed throughout the month are provided to fleets as a way to analyze the life of their units' tires, and drivers also receive immediate reports showing the status of their tires.
Love's Truck Tire Care representatives will answer questions and offer live TirePass demonstrations at the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) Aug. 27-29 in Dallas.
The company also has produced a YouTube video with details about TirePass.
Founded in 1964, Love's operates more than 350 locations in 40 states.
