ISRI releases first-ever safety resources catalog

WASHINGTON (July 31, 2015) — The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has released its first-ever directory of all the safety-related resources offered by the association to help its members operate safely.

ISRI said its new Safety Resources Catalog, available online and in hardcopy, is the most comprehensive listing of safety resources available to the recycling industry. It offers more than 150 different safety-related videos, manuals, handbooks, posters and decals, as well as train-the-trainer materials—all catalogued by safety topic for use by ISRI members.

Robin Wiener, president of ISRI, said the institute “offers a broad menu of safety services and tools for its members, from on-site multi-day training by ISRI's professional safety staff to training guides, of which recyclers can and should take advantage.

“The catalog, which will be updated as new products become available, demonstrates the industry's strong commitment to safety as a core value. It is designed to be easy to navigate so companies can quickly identify which resources best meet their needs. There is simply no excuse for not taking advantage of all that ISRI provides when it comes to safety.”

The catalog's tools are categorized by the “21 Key Elements of a Safety Management Program,” including confined spaces, driver training, fall protection, fire prevention, lockout/tagout, machine guarding and personal protective equipment.

ISRI, which calls itself the “Voice of the Recycling Industry,” said the vast majority of its safety resources are available at no cost to its members through ISRI's website, YouTube channel, or by contacting ISRI's safety staff at 202-662-8511.
