DETROIT (July 30, 2015) — General Motors Co.'s Cadillac division will equip its 2016 CTS-V luxury/sports sedan exclusively with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, according to Michelin North America Inc.
The CTS-V is Cadillac's performance flagship, powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter, 640 hp V8 that's used in the Corvette Z06. The vehicle's top speed is rated at 200 mph with a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.7 seconds.
The CTS-V will be fitted with 265/35ZR19 Super Sports on the front and 295/30ZR19 on the rear, Michelin said. GM also opted earlier this year for an exclusive Michelin Super Sport fitment for its ATS-V performance sedan/coupe.
“The Michelin Pilot Super Sport that we jointly developed for the Cadillac CTS-V strengthens the strategic engineering initiative between our companies to provide the highest-possible performance experience to Cadillac drivers,” said Thom Roach, vice president of original equipment marketing for Michelin North America.
“Similar to our exclusive fitment on the first-ever Cadillac ATS-V, CTS-V owners will enjoy a smoother ride, improved dry handling, excellent performance in the rain, low noise and long tread life.”
The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V's prices start at $84,990 including destination.
“V-Series represents the pinnacle of Cadillac, a brand that now makes drivers' cars at the highest level,” said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president, earlier this year.
“The new CTS-V is essentially two cars in one: a luxury sedan with sophisticated road manners and a track-capable sports car. This type of car is exclusive, the domain of the few who can access this level of incredible capability.”
Michelin said the Super Sport line is built with its most innovative ultra-high performance technology, including the latest advances in the tread compound and a steel belt package previously reserved for Michelin racing tires.
