Community Wholesale opens 3rd Mo. D/C

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (July 17, 2015) — Community Wholesale Tire Inc. has opened a 65,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Springfield to help improve service to the wholesaler's customers in southwest Missouri and other new territories.  

The new warehouse is Community Wholesale Tire's third distribution center and extends the firm's warehousing space to more than 500,000 square feet. The other warehouses are at the firm's headquarters in Hazelwood, Mo., and in Kansas City, Mo.

“The additional warehouse space in Springfield allows us to better service our existing southwest Missouri customers, and to expand our area of service into new geographic locations,” said Andy Berra, executive vice president.

The company declined to elaborate on which new territories are targeted. Springfield, however, allows relatively easy access to Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Community Wholesale purchased the facility, which is located in the North Creek Business Park on the northeast side of Springfield, near the Interstate 44/Highway 65 junction. The new location is about 165 miles southeast of the Kansas City warehouse.

Community Wholesale said initially it's planning a staff of 15 with seven delivery trucks, levels that could grow to 20 and 12 next year.

The family-owned and –operated dealership, in business since 1935, said it distributes tires to more than 3,000 customers in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Kentucky and Iowa, including those allied under the wholesaler's Independent Tire Dealers (ITD) buying group.      

Community Wholesale lists itself as an administrator for several tire manufacturer supplier programs, including: Bridgestone Affiliated Retailer; Continental Gold; Goodyear G3Xpress; Kumho Premium Fuel; Mickey Thompson Marketing Alliance; and Toyo Associate Retail Rewards Program.
