FORT MILL, S.C. (July 9, 2015) — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. is voluntarily recalling approximately 3,800 Continental ContiProContact replacement passenger tires for possible tread separation.
The tires — in size P205/ 65R15 95T XL — were manufactured during February 2015, Conti told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a letter July 7. They bear the Department of Transportation code VY UR 471B 0615, Conti said, adding that only tires with the date code 0615 are being recalled.
VY is the U.S. DOT code for Conti's Sumter, S.C., plant.
Conti said it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries stemming from the potential defect. The tire maker said it will notify owners of the tires promptly. Meanwhile, any questions about the recall may be directed to Conti's website.
