Martin elected TIA board secretary

BOWIE, Md. (July 7, 2015) — David Martin, director of sales, tire supply and specialty rubber for American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. (ATD), was elected secretary of the Tire Industry Association's (TIA) board of directors at the trade group's biannual meeting June 23-25.

Mr. Martin begins his one-year term as secretary on Nov. 2. After that year, he will proceed as vice president, then president, then past president of TIA — all positions of one-year terms.

“David has a proven commitment to the industry and the association. We are fortunate to have him taking on this leadership role and the entire industry will benefit from his passion and expertise,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

According to TIA, Mr. Martin he has worked in the automotive aftermarket for more than 30 years, including the last seven at Huntersville, N.C.-based ATD.

His experience includes owning Snap-on Tools and Cornwell Tools dealerships as well as owning a field service repair business repairing Coats, Ammco, Robinair, RTI and Accu-turn automotive equipment, TIA said.

During his tenure at ATD, Mr. Martin has worked with tire repair manufacturers to create tire repair seminars aimed at helping tire dealers become more professional and develop the correct tire repair procedures for their shops based on industry standards, TIA said.

Mr. Martin, who has served on TIA's board for the past three years, is chairman of the association's Training and Education Committee and also serves on its Strategic Planning and Finance Committee and Events Committee.
