DURAND, Wis.—Bauer Built Inc. has acquired Central Tire & Tread, a single-outlet commercial tire dealership in Lexington, Neb., and plans to move the business into a 20,000-sq.-ft. facility to be built nearby.
The Lexington location is Bauer Built's sixth outlet in Nebraska and the farthest west of the dealership's 35 outlets. Lexington is a community of about 10,000 along I-80 between Grand Island and North Platte, Neb.
Bauer Built bought Central Tire from owners Ernie and Ronda Harris, who will continue to work with Bauer Built for an undetermined period to help transition the business. The deal's financial terms were not disclosed.
The new outlet will be closer to I-80 and will be capable of servicing retail, commercial and agricultural consumers with tire and service needs, including auto and truck alignment. It should be in operation by this fall, Bauer Built said. The existing property will be sold.
Central Tire has been in business since 1990.
