DOTHAN, Ala. (July 2, 2015) — Hornsby Tire Distributors is expanding its business footprint further southwest with the opening of a distribution center in Mobile, Ala., that will allow it to service customers in and around Pensacola, Fla., as well.
The new warehouse, Hornsby's fifth distribution center, will occupy 38,500 square feet initially. It's scheduled to open July 6.
“The greater Mobile market — including Pensacola —has been on our expansion list for some time,” said Hornsby CEO Steve Mattis. “Our team determined that the time was favorable for an expansion into the greater Mobile market, and we are very pleased about what we believe to be an excellent fit as we continue to build our company.”
Scott Sulsberger, director of sales and marketing, credited his company's success to “our steadfast commitment to providing our customers with quality products and unrivaled service.”
Hornsby has not yet determined its staffing or vehicle needs there.
Hornsby's other distribution centers are in Dothan, Huntsville and Birmingham, Ala., and Columbus, Ga., the latter of which it opened in May 2014 to support the wholesaler's expansion into central Georgia.
Founded in 1967, Hornsby services customers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi with passenger, light truck, medium truck, OTR, agriculture, and commercial tires. The company features Cooper, Delta, Nexen and Toyo brands, according to its website.
