KOBE, Japan (June 25, 2015) — Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI) has launched a global website for its Falken brand.
The move is designed to “make it easier for consumers to access information” about the Falken brand, according to SRI.
The website is subtitled “On the Pulse” and is available in four languages — Chinese, English, German and Japanese. It also links to individual national sites in Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom and the U.S.
SRI said it launched the Falken brand in Japan in 1983 as its flagship high-performance radial tire brand alongside the Dunlop brand it controlled at that time in Japan and a few selected Asian markets.
With Sumitomo's pending deal to dissolve its 16-year-old global alliance with Goodyear, the Falken brand will take on even more significance. SRI said it will be able to operate openly and independently in North America and Western Europe, but not with the Dunlop brand, rights to which remain with Goodyear.
