HARTFORD, Conn. (June 23, 2015) — Permatex, a developer of chemical technology for automotive maintenance and repair, has introduced Permatex Self-fusing Silicone Tape (Product No. 82112) for use in a wide variety of automotive and general repair applications.
The fast-acting tape bonds to itself and instantly creates an airtight, waterproof seal, which can be used for quick and secure repairs on hoses, pipes, cables, wiring, electrical connections and more, the firm said.
According to Permatex, the Self-fusing Silicone Tape is ideal for application areas that may become wet or are in contact with running water. In addition to waterproofing, the tape has a tensile strength of 700 psi for use on pressurized hoses; is heat resistant to 400 degrees Fahrenheit; insulates electric wires up to 400V; and withstands salt, acids and solvents such as gasoline.
Permatex has developed a brief educational video, available on its YouTube page, that demonstrates the tape's performance and shows customers how to use it in a variety of repairs.
Permatex Self-fusing Silicone Tape can be used in place of duct and electrical tape, the firm said. It can also be used to wrap tool handles for a better grip. A single package contains one roll of black tape measuring 1 inch wide and 10 feet long. For more information, visit www.permatex.com.
