FORT SMITH, Ark. (May 29, 2015) — Goodyear has added commercial tire sales and service assets at three of its Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems L.L.C. retread plants in order to improve service to fleet customers.
The Akron-based tire maker made the changes at its retread plants in Bremen, Ga., and Vernon and Walnut, Calif., which it categorized as “high-traffic areas.”
The three new Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service (CTS) centers offer Goodyear-Fleet HQ 24/7 Emergency Roadside Service in addition to Goodyear's full line of Goodyear-, Dunlop- and Kelly-brand truck tires and Goodyear retreads.
“These newly opened sales and service departments make it even easier for fleets to access premium Goodyear truck tires and services to help lower their operating costs,” said Paul Wanstreet, president of the business unit.
Adding these services did not require any changes to the size of the locations, Goodyear said, without disclosing the number of employees hired to staff the expanded business units.
Goodyear did not say how many of the 28 retread plants operating under the Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service business unit also have tire sales and service on site.
Since 2007, the Goodyear-Fleet HQ 24/7 Emergency Roadside Service program has helped more than 1 million trucks return to service and boasts an industry-leading roll time of 2 hours and 11 minutes, on average.
