NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (May 27, 2015) — Stanley Black & Decker Inc. has forged a partnership based in service to honor U.S. military veterans.

The New Britain-based tool maker, in introducing its “Build Your America” program, notes that “our military and public safety veterans didn't serve to gain our thanks, but they absolutely deserve it.”

The company said it is “proud to partner” with non-profit organization House of Heroes to recognize, honor and serve America's veterans.

Through this arrangement, Stanley said it will join the cause of “providing no-cost home repairs to our veterans. It's just a small token of our appreciation for those who deserve it most.”

Founded in January 2000, House of Heroes serves American military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical/financial challenges. The organization's volunteers perform minor repairs and make improvements to the homes of veterans and their spouses — at no cost to the veteran — through the generosity of individuals, civic organizations and corporations, according to Stanley Black & Decker, formerly known as The Stanley Works, a Fortune 500 U.S. manufacturer of industrial tools and household hardware.

Some of the heroes being honored by Stanley include “Cliff H.,” described as “a proud WWII veteran”; Veteran “Jesse E.,” who displays a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal, both of which he won in the U.S. Army; “Marie P.,” shown wearing a red sweater while holding a framed photo of her late husband, U.S. Navy veteran Dennis Perreault, a Vietnam veteran; 11-year U.S. Navy veteran “Pat G.,” wearing a camouflage jacket and ball cap, who “knows what it means to help others”; and U.S. Marine veteran “Mario S.,” shown holding a framed photo of himself as a young man in the military.
