CINCINNATITire Discounters Inc. plans to move its headquarters to downtown Cincinnati this summer from the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville in large part to accommodate the company's accelerated growth strategy.
The move, the dealership's second headquarters relocation in three years, will coincide with the opening of a 67,200-sq.-ft. distribution center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.scheduled to open this summerto support the dealership's expanding footprint in Tennessee, where plans call for up to 16 stores by year-end 2015.
Tire Discounters already operates six stores in the greater Nashville, Tenn., area, including one in Murfreesboro that opened May 6.
We believe moving our headquarters to downtown Cincinnati makes great sense for our company's growth plan, said Chip Wood, founder and chairman of Tire Discounters and a Cincinnati native, but it's also important for me because this means Tire Discounters headquarters will remain in the same region it first started 39 years ago.
We looked at several locations in multiple cities, but in the end this location was the best for us and our employees, he added.
Tire Discounters expects to take one floor of the office building at the corner of Fourth and Vine steets, just a few blocks from Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park on the Ohio River. At least 40 employees are expected to make the move.
Tire Discounters' warehouse, various operations, growing training facilities and many workers will remain in Sharonville, where the dealership consolidated its headquarters and warehousing activities just three years ago.
According to Paul Brunner, president and CEO, the company has outgrown the Sharonville campus and moving the corporate headquarters downtown will allow for further expansion.
This is a very important and exciting move for Tire Discounters as we quickly expand our business, Mr. Brunner said. We're opening new stores, expanding the markets we're in, adding a distribution center and now moving our corporate headquarters to downtown Cincinnati so we have more space.
Separately, the firm has been expanding its store count in other markets, with a tire and auto service shop opening April 6 in Powell, Ohio. The location is Tire Discounters' 14th location in the Columbus area.
Most name brand tires and value-based tires are available through the new location, Cincinnati-based Tire Discounters said.
Services offered include free alignment with a qualifying tire purchase; a free lifetime tire maintenance package that includes rotation, balancing and valve stems; and nitrogen inflation.
We're continuing to expand our business to provide our customers with convenient service as close to their homes as possible, Mr. Wood said. Exceeding customer expectations is integral to Tire Discounters' business, and it's a commitment that started 39 years ago. We look forward to working with our current, loyal customers and welcoming some new faces in Powell.
Family-owned and -operated Tire Discounters is considered the 11th largest independent tire retailer in the U.S., with nearly 100 stores in four states.
