WASHINGTON (May 22, 2015) — Representatives of the Automotive Service Association (ASA) have met with officials of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding trichloroethylene and other chlorinated solvents in aerosol spray degreasers.
The EPA has begun rulemaking to address environmental risks it has identified in those solvents, according to the ASA.
Leaders of the ASA's Mechanical Division discussed the potential effects of the proposed rule on auto repairers, providing examples from their own members' shops and aggregate information from their colleagues, the ASA said.
The ASA will continue to communicate with the EPA as the agency develops the solvents rule, the association said.
