OTTAWA, Ontario (May 21, 2015) — The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada has released the results of its 2014 Compensation and Benefits Survey, which the group said examines human resource practices in the automotive aftermarket.
The 23-page report covers pay rates, vacation time and a variety of other benefits, AIA Canada said, and is available to all AIA members for free. Members can access the report via the group's website by logging in with their email address and visiting the Publications tab.
Non-members can purchase the survey results by visiting the AIA's online store. The price is $799 (Canadian).
“Salaries and benefits are among the most important factors in attracting and retaining employees,” said Andrew Shepherd, senior director, industry programs, AIA Canada. “They also influence labor mobility and overall industry competitiveness. This benchmarking study is a key baseline measurement for the automotive aftermarket.”
The study was produced by HayGroup in collaboration with eight of Canada's largest national automotive aftermarket companies, including Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd., Carquest Auto Parts, Fountain Tire, Modern Sales Co-op, Mr. Lube, Spectra Premium Industries, UAP Inc. and Uni-Select Inc.
The benchmark employment positions examined to represent industry standards in the survey include automotive service technician, shipper/receiver, parts/counter person, outside sales person (field staff for jobbers/distributors) and store manager.
AIA Canada said it plans to repeat the survey at regular intervals to track the direction of HR policies in the automotive aftermarket industry.
Those interested in becoming AIA Canada members can contact the group's membership department at 800-808-2920, extension 227.
