UNION CITY, Calif. — Tire's Warehouse Inc. (TWI) is opening a distribution center in Union City to expand service to customers in northern California.
TWI said it expects to start shipping from the new location June 15. The facility, TWI's sixth warehouse in California, opens at 102,000 square feet and eventually will span 128,000 square feet when a second phase is complete.
“We know it is a vital move into a different market,” said TWI President Dan King, “and our goal is to bring the strong customer focus and competitive pricing that our customers in Southern California are familiar with to Northern California.”
The distribution center is considered a “milestone” for the 46-year-old company as it expands throughout the state. The facility will service customers in and around the San Francisco bay area and in areas stretching from Sacramento to Fresno.
TWI is leasing the facility — a former Hercules Tire & Rubber Co./Tire Dealers' Warehouse location, according to an Internet search of the address — and is outfitting it with warehouse racks built to its own specifications. TWI initially will staff the Union City D/C with 10 salespersons and will have 15 delivery vehicles offering twice daily deliveries to most areas, the company said.
