DURAND, Wis. (May 18, 2015) — Bauer Built Inc. has selected two high school students, the daughter and granddaughter of Bauer Built employees, as winners of the G. F. and Ethel V. Bauer/Bauer Built Inc. Scholarship Award for 2015.
The students, Alexa Milliren of Arkansaw, Wis., and Amanda Nyquist of of Brooklyn Park, Minn., will receive $1,500 each, Bauer Built said.
The dealership set up the scholarship program in 1994 in commemoration of its 50th anniversary and in honor of the founders.
To be eligible, applicants must be a Bauer Built employee, a son or daughter, stepson or stepdaughter or grandchild of a Bauer Built employee who is graduating from high school and enrolled in a post-secondary course of instruction.
Each applicant must submit a hand-written essay on the field of study being pursued along with their career goals, two letters of recommendation, and verification of grade-point average with their application.
Ms. Milliren, granddaughter of Joan Traun, the corporate receptionist at the Durand office, attends Durand High School in Durand and intends to attend the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Her parents are Tim and Julie Milliren of Arkansaw.
Ms. Nyquist is the daughter of Ronald and Connie Nyquist of Brooklyn Park; Mr, Nyquist is the assistant store manager at Bauer Built's store in in Blaine, Minn. She attends Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope, Minn., and plans to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, to pursure a degree in math education.
Since 1994, Bauer Built has awarded $87,000 in scholarships.
