Hybrid Shop's Curry authors entrepreneur book

WASHINGTON (May 13, 2015) — Matt Curry, former tire dealer who founded The Hybrid Shop, has penned a book on being an entrepreneur.

The just-released tome, titled The A.D.D. Entrepreneur — How to Harness Your Superpowers to Create a Kickass Company, will have a limited 99-cent release for Kindle through May 16.

Mr. Curry and his wife Judy started Curry's Auto Service in 1997with one shop in Chantilly, Va., expanding it into one of the largest independent auto repair chains in the Washington, D.C., metro area, with nine shops across Northern Virginia and one in Maryland, and annual sales of about $18 million. In 2013 the couple sold the dealership to Monro Muffler Brake Inc. They then went on to found THS, an international network of hybrid-electric vehicle service providers.

Mr. Curry, who has worked in the automotive aftermarket business for more than 30 years, began changing tires when he was 15 and worked his way into management, overseeing seven automotive stores for several different companies, doubling and tripling sales and profits at every store he managed, according to publicity for the book.

Diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Mr. Curry in his book shares how he embraced his condition, using it to build multi-million dollar businesses.

“I've channeled my A.D.D. onto a positive track and used it to build businesses that have not only made a lot of money but have also made a lot of money for other people and made their lives better,” he said. “And that's what this book is all about: How my off-the-wall ADD tendencies inspired me to create and execute a set of proven principles for growing a successful business.”

Some of the topics covered in the book include:

  • Developing a vision and game plan;

  • Crafting a message and shouting it out;

  • Finding a way to say “Yes;” and

  • 151 ADD superpowers.

In the book's foreword, Cameron Herald, a CEO coach and best-selling author, writes that Mr. Curry “has written a book that needs to be read. Not by everyone — but it needs to be read by all entrepreneurs and their employees, and I'd even suggest it should be read by those telling entrepreneurs to ‘conform' to be more like them.

“Matt's book outlines some of the tips to leveraging ADD. And as all of us who have it know, we want the short cuts; we want the easy solutions. His book gives them to us.”
