The move from Valencia, Calif., involved roughly 20 employees, Mr. Burkhardt said, all but two of whom moved with the company.
In Pennsylvania, API started moving inventory in early May into the leased warehouse in Camp Hill, Mr. Burkhardt said.
The facility is API's second in the U.S., complementing the one it has had in Dallas for the past 20 years.
Mr. Burkhardt said most of API's China-sourced consumer brands are from tire makers in the 31-percent duty range and thus not nearly as “crushing” as management originally feared.
As a result, API said it has resumed shipments of its brands and been able to restore relations with most its longtime customers.
Mr. Burkhardt did not discuss pricing specifics.
