CLERMONT-FERRAND, France (May 4, 2015) — The Michelin family is making arrangements to broadcast Francois Michelin's funeral ceremonies, set for May 5, locally and to media outlets wishing to air the service.
Group Michelin is setting up a large screen in Victory Square in front of the Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand, where the service will take place, to allow the service to be seen and heard by locals.
Only those with a personal invitation from the family will be able to attend the service inside the cathedral; interment will be in strict family privacy, Group Michelin said.
The service is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. Central European Time.
Mr. Michelin, head of the company that bears his family name for 47 years, died April 29 at age 88. He led Michelin et Cie. as co-managing director until 1999 when he handed over the reins to a management team that included his son Edouard, who tragically died in a boating accident in 2006.
