WASHINGTON (April 29, 2015) — Charles A. Cannon, president and CEO of the Rubber Manufacturers Association since May 2008, will retire at year-end.
Mr. Cannon became interim RMA president in February 2008, upon the resignation of Donald B. Shea and was appointed permanently to the position three months later.
At the time of joining the RMA, Mr. Cannon was president of Cannon Consultants Inc., a trade association consulting firm. In that job, he represented various organizations, including Los Alamos National Laboratory, the National Audubon Society and the California Energy Commission.
Mr. Cannon first came to Washington to join the staff of the House Appropriations Committee. Later, he joined the Washington staff of United Technologies.
The RMA has appointed a search committee to find Mr. Cannon's successor as president, the departing executive said.
Mr. Cannon earned a PhD in history in 1975 from Stanford University, an master's degree from Rice University, and a bacherlor's degree rom Columbia University, the RMA said.
