TGI appoints president

MIAMI (April 7, 2014) — Tire Group International L.L.C. (TGI) has named Joaquin Gonzalez Jr. president, effective April 1.

Mr. Gonzalez joined TGI in 2006 after a pro football career, TGI said. He first played with the University of Miami Hurricanes, which won the national title in 2001, then continued his sports career in the NFL playing with the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts.

Mr. Gonzalez started as Miami-based TGI's chief operating officer, the company said, where he developed and implemented TGI's current ERP system, increasing sales more than 20 percent in one year, and nearly doubling sales over the next five years.

Later, he took on the task in 2012of leading TGI's sales efforts as chief marketing officer. Since then, the international distributor's sales and continued growth have been a clear reflection of Mr. Gonzalez Jr.'s dedication and hard work.

“Joaquin has steadily taken on a larger role in the management of the company over the past few years; I felt his title should better reflect those added responsibilities,” said Tony Gonzalez, TGI's founder and chairman.

“I am extremely proud of my brother and his accomplishments,” he added. “His ability to lead and manage our team is clearly evident in the positive results TGI has been able to post since his addition in 2006.”

According to its website, TGI has for the past decade been a worldwide wholesale distributor of more than 40 tire brands, along with various brands of tubes and wheels and several brands of tire repair products.
